Career exploration programs enable persons to investigate and become proficient in a new occupation. Astra Women's Business Alliance
Astra Women's Business Alliance, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, is a strategic partner of Women's Business Enterprise National Council providing third-party certification for women-owned and managed firms in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Northern California. Astra creates events for corporate and agency buyers to meet certified women business enterprises (WBE) to explore contracting opportunities. To date, Astra has assisted its WBE to gain over 1500 contracts from its local corporate members.

The Bay Area Green Business Program is a successful partnership of environmental agencies and utilities that assists, recognizes and promotes businesses and government agencies that volunteer to operate in a more environmentally responsible way. To be certified "green," participants must be in compliance with all regulations and meet program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.They offer motivated businesses and agencies an easy-to-use framework for improving environmental performance. Over 625 businesses and public agencies have been certified since 1996.

California Integrated Waste Management Board
The California Integrated Waste Management Board is the designated State agency to oversee and manage California's 76 million tons of wasted resources generated each year. We promote a sustainable environment where resources are not wasted but can be reused or recycled through measurable and innovative programs and a partnership with all California. The Board provides grants and loans in order to help California cities, counties, businesses and organizations meet the State's reduction, reuse and recycling goals. In addition to the many programs and incentives, the Board promotes the use of new and innovative technologies for the practice of diverting California's resources away from landfills.

Technology Ventures Corporation
The mission of Technology Ventures Corporation is to help startup companies that are developing technology from the national laboratories in California, Nevada and New Mexico. There are two groups that benefit from TVC’s efforts—entrepreneurs and investors. TVC helps entrepreneurs strengthen their business case and prepare to raise funding from equity investors.
